As Alpha werewolf, Fallon is expected to mate with a strong female wolf from another pack but once his wolf gets close to Tate, the animal will accept no one else. It doesn't matter that she's human and the new sheriff in town. All that matters is, the wolf wants her.
When a rogue werewolf begins hunting his pack, Fallon and Tate search for the killer together. Though Fallon knows all his attention should be on catching this killer, Tate is too tempting, too seductive to be ignored. And in one wicked night, Fallon claims her as his mate, binding their hearts and bodies together before they must face the wolf who could destroy everything.
Excerpt:Tate grinned at Fallon's back as he hiked up the hill. It was the perfect day for a walk in the woods-sun shining, a slight breeze and a man with the perfect ass walking in front of her. But she wasn't there to enjoy the scenery. Despite Fallon's claims, she knew he was searching for the wolf killer-and she wasn't going to let him go alone. Too dangerous.
Fortunately, Fallon's sister Rebecca agreed with Tate and warned her when Fallon was taking his "hike".
She wondered for a minute if Rebecca was trying to play matchmaker. Tate hoped not. Not that Fallon wasn't gorgeous-short dark hair, bright blue eyes and a body that just screamed to be plastered across a billboard dressed in nothing but pair of boxer shorts-and nice, respectful. Shortly after Tate had first arrived in town, she'd flashed her eyes at Fallon. He'd shown no interest in her light flirtation so she'd backed off. She could take a hint.
It would have been a bad idea anyway. She was the sheriff-an appointed position but still open to scrutiny-and he was a community leader. They could hardly have a wild affair. And from all reports Fallon was still mourning his wife.
"Are we going somewhere in particular?" she asked after a while.
"Just walking."
"Right toward the area where those wolves were killed," she pointed out. He shrugged. "Speaking of that." She lengthened her stride to keep up with him. She was in good shape but he had a lot of power in those legs. And it was mostly uphill. "Why didn't you send one of your minions to look around?"
He stopped and turned-his eyes flat and a little cold. "Minions?" he bit out.
"I don't know what else you'd call them. The five guys who hover around you, ready to do your bidding."
"I call them employees. And cousins."
With that brusque answer, he walked away.
Right, cousins. The whole damn county was related to him. Thank goodness Rebecca had welcomed her and they'd become friends or Tate was pretty sure no one else in town would talk to her.
Tate quickly caught up with him just as he turned south. Fallon seemingly followed a path that only he knew. At random points he would change direction, sometimes taking them deeper into the trees, sometimes leading her up the hillside. They took a break, munching on granola and sipping water-but Fallon seemed anxious to get moving so Tate didn't linger.
Clouds moved in shortly after noon and the breeze grew. Her legs, bare to her mid-thigh, were a little cold, though the sturdy shirt she wore kept her top warm. She thought about the lacy little bra and panty set she wore underneath. Totally inappropriate for hiking but when she'd dressed that morning, she'd been thinking about Fallon-and the insane chance that she might have the opportunity to undress for him, with him. Same reason she'd taken the time to shave her legs with extra care.
It was unlikely but hey, a girl had to have her fantasies. For the past two years, that was all that had kept her warm.
Reviews:
"Tielle St. Clare's FIRST MOON RISE is a thrilling fast paced read that is sure to leave readers smiling. Fallon is 100% Alpha and isn't used to anyone standing up to him. Tate is one determined female who isn't about to back down even to a cocky alpha male when she knows that she's right. I loved every second of their battle of wills and how perfect they turn out to be for each other. If you enjoy a good werewolf story then you'll love this one."
